The split level dining and lounge area of the luxurious Pumba Water Lodge are warmed by a central fireplace and open out to large wooden decks and an inviting pool with stairs leading down to the jetty and the peaceful Lake Kariega. The 12 stone-walled, thatched waterfront chalets are all air-conditioned with under-floor heating, telephone, mini-bar and tea/coffee stations. The en-suite bathrooms offer free-standing baths, double basins, bathrobes and outdoor showers, while the lounge and bedroom share a crackling fireplace and open out to a private timber deck and private plunge pool overlooking the lake. Activities include hiking, botanical walking safaris, stargazing, archery, bass fishing, bush picnics, birding safaris and the chance to learn more about the White Lion breeding programme.
The Lodge is set amongst dense bushveld, overlooking Lake Kariega and offers sweeping views from its terraced deck, complete with bushveld pool. The Bush Bar is the spot to enjoy a sundowner before dinner, a cordon bleu delight, served under thatch or under the stars. Opulent, stonewalled, thatched and air-conditioned chalets are set along the lake’s edge.
