I WANT TO SWIM IN THE DEVIL'S POOL

Often described as the ultimate infinity pool, Devil's Pool is a natural rock pool on the edge of the Victoria Falls, located along the Zambezi River in Zambia.

During the dry season (August - January) the Devil's Pool is shallow enough that you can safely swim right to the edge enabling you to get as close as possible to the roar of this magnificent Natural Wonder of the World.

The experience is exhilarating, you feel the force of the mighty Zambezi River flowing past you and crashing down over the precipice, a hundred meter drop. But you won't get swept down by the force of the falls because of a rock wall just below the surface.

Is it dangerous? You swim from Livingstone Island so you need to be a confident swimmer, and of course you are with an experienced guide. Then you take a leap of faith into the pool. We are not aware of any casualties!

Over 500 million litres of water a minute cascade over the almost 2km wide falls, causing a deafening and spectacular explosion of spray which can be seen 30 miles away. This is why it is known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or The Smoke that Thunders.
