DAY 1
OVERNIGHT FLIGHT FROM UK TO LUSAKA
DAYS 2-3
LUWI BUSH CAMP & YOUR FIRST WALKING SAFARI
You will be met at Lusaka Airport and escorted onto your domestic flight to Mfuwe. Your safari guide will meet you at Mfuwe Airport and drive you deep into the National Park to Luwi Bush Camp, a wonderfully rustic camp set in the shade of large trees close to a permanent lagoon. This afternoon your guide will introduce you to the armed escort scout who will accompany you on your first real walking safari, taking time to point out the tracks and signs that he uses to interpret the bush that you are walking through.
This first excursion will be a taster for what is to come. This is no nature trail, this is the real thing, you are tracking big game through the African bush, on foot!
YOUR ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
Luwi Camp, nestled in the shade of huge mahogany trees, is close to a permanent hippo and croc filled lagoon. It is situated deep in the heart of the National Park, on the dynamic Luwi River.
DAYS 4-5
WALK TO NSOLO CAMP
On the second morning at Luwi you will head out from camp as you did on the previous day but this time your guide will walk you down the Luwi river course. Your destination is Nsolo, the second of your bush camps.
After a few hours gentle walking you will wander into the new camp. A cool drink will be ready for you, brunch will be on the table and your bags will be in your room, your home for the next two nights.
YOUR ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
One of the more historical safari camps in Zambia, Nsolo, is the quintessential 'bare-foot luxury' camp. It was sited by Norman Carr & his son Adrian, as well as scout Rice Time Tembo.
DAYS 6-7
FURTHER DOWN RIVER TO KAKULI CAMP
Your next move takes you further down the Luwi River, again on foot, to its confluence with the main Luangwa and to Kakuli Camp, along a stretch of the Luangwa that is home to over five hundred Hippo.
Most of the game viewing is still on foot although there are more roads in this area so it is possible to use vehicles and with a dense population of leopards in the area the night drives are usually very rewarding.
YOUR ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
Located on one of the very original camp sites in the central region of the South Luangwa National Park is the rustic and tented, Kakuli bush camp. Kakuli has spectacular views.
DAYS 8-9
CREATURE COMFORTS AT MCHENJA
Finally a taste of luxury awaits you at Mchenja, the last of your camps. The game in this area of the Park is abundant, so if there is anything that you have yet to see, the chances are you will find it here.
YOUR ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
The camp is set within 60 acres of private land with Luangwa River frontage, with direct access into one of the most game rich areas of the National Park all combining to make this special.
Set under huge ebony trees on the banks of a broad section of the Luangwa River, Mchenja has a lovely relaxed atmosphere with sweeping river views. With only five thatched chalets.
DAY 10
SAFARI ENDS & BACK TO THE UK
After your 8 night safari fly back to Lusaka to connect with your flight home.
