PLANET BAOBAB
MTWETWE PAN > MAKGADIKGADI PANS > BOTSWANA
18 HUTS
THE CAMP
Planet Baobab sits on the edge of the Mtwetwe Pan near Gweta Town, in the Makgadikgadi Pans region. A truly unique and quirky lodge, Planet Baobab reflects the original building methods from the native inhabitants of the Pans in years gone by. Colourful and fun, the lodge offers a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. Activities at the lodge include day trips to the pans, guided bush walks and quad biking over the vast salt pans.
THE ROOMS
The rooms are a choice between en-suite Bakalanga Mud huts or Baobab Huts. The mud huts are based on traditional homes of Botswana and the veranda areas are surrounded by low cow-dung walls. The exteriors of the huts are adorned with artwork, using natural pigments found in termite mounds. The Baobab grass huts are constructed in the manner of the original inhabitants of the Makgadikgadi. Keeping true to tradition, the huts are not ensuite, don’t have electricity but offer light with paraffin lamps and comfort in the mopane and cowhide beds.
