LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK HOLIDAYS
The Lower Zambezi National Park covers over 4,000 square kilometers of undeveloped landscape. The true beauty comes from its rugged wilderness. Whilst you may find a larger diversity of wildlife in other parks, very few offer the opportunity to witness the game as closely as watching them wander in and out of the Zambezi.
Initially the private game reserve of Zambia's president, 1983 saw the area declared a national park. This has enabled the park to remain one of the few pristine wilderness areas left in Africa. It is located on the opposite bank to Zimbabwe's Mana Pools national park.
Both parks sit on the Zambezi flood plain ringed by mountains. Lower Zambezi slopes gently from the Zambezi Escarpment down to the river.
You may not encounter another tourist during your visit, due to the park's remote location, so you can be sure that your animal encounters will be as real and natural as one could hope for. Large mammals such as buffalo, elephants - sometimes in herds of 100 strong, lions, leopards and antelope congregate on the floodplain, whilst crocodiles and hippos can be seen closer to the River.
